Marquis and the Ghost of Peg Entwistle for Gothtober Day 5

Visit the Gothtober Countdown Calendar and CLICK DAY FIVE to sing along with Marquis!

Gothtober is made in Echo Park, CA, which is in very close proximity of the Hollywood sign. We have many ghosts in Hollywood, but one of the most legendary is the ghost of Peg Entwistle, who ended her life by jumping off of the top of the”H” in the sign in the year 1932 at the age of 24.

The first part of the song contains the words of her suicide note. It was found in her purse by a passersby. While this tune is quite morbid, it’s also quite catchy, and hours after hearing the song, I’ve ended up humming it to myself more than once. Is it just a regular ol’ earworm… or is it PEG’S GHOST?!? We may never know…

This song has NEVER been heard before, debuting today, Marquis said he can’t wait to try it out with the whole band, and neither can we! Until then, sing along with the words below if you’re in a halloween mood:

I am afraid, I am a coward.
I am sorry for everything.
If I had done this a long time ago, it would have saved a lot of pain.”
Found my shoes,
my purse, my coat
At the icon of this town
Found my sad little note
And the body I threw down
Everybody jump like Peg
Throw yourself & twist your leg
Toss your head & let it shake
Leap until you feel it break

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!!

Our final treat in the Gothtober Line-Up this year is from the Family Waller in Los Angeles, California. There are three Waller kids, and each one in this film has a dream after having too much candy. Footage from these miraculous dreams involves sweets, dolls, space travel, dirt, and a white pumpkin. The Waller family came together to make this film to let you know that if YOU eat too much candy, you might also experience vivid, sugar-laden visions, so be careful how many Junior Mints you eat before going to sleep! It’s kind of a cosmic cowboy PSA for the times we live in, feel free to sing along at the end!

We’d like to thank all of you out there who followed us until the very last day of October, and we’d like to pat on the back every skeleton, ghost, monster, and all of the other crawly screamy freaky things who made this year a great success. Thank you for being part of our 13th endeavor, dirt and worms for you all!

Head Candy Corn, JP

Mallorca [maˈʎorka])[2] is the largest island in the Balearic Islands archipelago, which are part of Spain and located in the Mediterranean Sea.

And from the middle of all that arrives a film with creatures, temptation, water, concrete, sand, searching, and singing! The director sent some comments and some behind the scenes photos. The director said that she’s:

… interested in the power of metaphor in the visual arts, thus the mouthless meets the eyeless. How do they communicate?

How does the ignorant and the powerless become the conscious and the active participant. blabla if you want to get into the mind wanking aspect.

Locations for this film include the beaches of Es Trenc, and a mixture of old and new structures in the city of Palma. The big round wheel-like sculptures they filmed in were by Catalan artist Josep Guinovart, dated 1986 and are supposed to represent windmills! Each piece can be seen here.

It took a lot of convincing the french teenagers to get weird…

When asked how the eyes and mouths disappeared in the film, Sisyphus’s twin sister said “I wanted to do silicone but we were rushed and it took too damn long so we just used adhesive stretchy bandages and coverup.”

People in Spain are so used to weird foreigners that not a single person stopped to watch the shoot.

We hope you enjoy today’s film experience, and may your communication impossibilities make a wonderful family.
